HALLOWEEN NIGHT

Tonight is Halloween night and I am walking in a forest.  I can see the trees looming out of the darkness with their branches twisting and wrapping around each other.  Two green eyes appear under a bush.  Out scurries a black cat, and without a glance, it turns and disappears into the night.  I keep walking, looking around for anything unhuman.  A mist starts curling around my feet, spreading, diffusing, shielding a dark figure from view.  As a bloodcurdling scream is let loose nearby, footsteps retreat into the fading gloom...

SEASONS

When seasons change,
summer birds migrate,
to escape the chilly cold.

When seasons change,
the animals put on a grand display,
of scurrying around finding food,
in fright that they might starve.

ANOTHER

I love the way the thunder booms,
The way the water sweeps the dirt like brooms,
While the pounding rain ceases to stop,
Lighting crackles and the air seems to pop!

As the thunder rumbles in the distance,
The rain slows, the lighting stops.

The sun peaks out from under the blankets,
To see if the storm has gone back to sleep,
To be woken up on another hot, humid day.

The sun’s rays are reflecting off of the water drops,
And a beautiful rainbow seems to pop!

The colors shine;
The birds creep out and start to dine,
On nature’s fresh, wet meal.

The animals come out,
and they don’t start to pout,
for the warm sun has come out again.

Foxes wrestle,
birds chirp,
squirrels play,
and birds burp!
(from eating too many worms)

The caterpillars crawl from leaf to leaf,
while ants start marching, searching for food (not beef)

All is calm.  The animals play,
Waiting for another storm, another day.

SUMMER

Summer is freedom when there is no school.
Summer is the sun boiling hot every day.
Summer is the pool with kids having fun.
Summer is hanging out with your best buddies at a sleepover.
Summer is the rare breeze that comes when the school year is over.
Summer is the waves crashing on the shore repeatedly as the days of summer last forever.
